What Happens After Approval?

Your application has been submitted to Economic Development, negotiated, and presented to City Council. Once your Chapter 380 agreement is executed, the Business Services team hands it off to the Compliance team.

You will work with Compliance for the remainder of the agreement term. The team will collect your submittal packages each year and process your payments.

Find Your Agreement

Your agreement will be uploaded to the publicly accessible Texas Comptroller's Chapter 380 Agreement Database.

Steps for Working with Compliance

Required steps, documents, and timing vary based on the terms in your agreement.

Step 1

Compliance Orientation

Immediately after the handoff, Compliance will reach out to schedule an orientation. Together, you will revisit the terms and requirements that will guide your grant submittal package.

Use this meeting to discuss your submission schedule, required documents, payment timing, and how to remain in compliance.

Step 2

Construction Period

You will start construction and obtain a Certificate of Occupancy based on the terms in your agreement.

This phase may take one year or more. Follow the timeline and requirements in your executed agreement.

Step 3

First Submission

Your first package requires the most documentation so Compliance can verify that development has started.

Depending on your agreement, this includes proof of investments, fees, permits, and general setup forms.

Step 4

Ongoing Annual Submission

Annual packages generally include fewer documents that remain consistent each year. Compliance verifies your development's growth against your application metrics.

These may include tax payments, assessed property value, and jobs created and/or retained.

You will continue submitting packages until your agreement term is complete, your agreement expires, or you reach the financial limit of your incentive package.

What Will Orientation Cover?

The Compliance team will review your agreement and answer questions about your grant submittal package such as:

Your Agreement Guides the Process

Your required documents, deadlines, performance metrics, and payment timing depend on your agreement. Review these details with Compliance during orientation.
